Dear FJ,
While I don't record every failed recipe as that would require a MUCH LARGER journal, I did document this one because:
- I have cooked this before successfully, it's my failsafe entertaining dish... hmm so I thought
- I really want to be a better cook - in my family, being a good cook well outranks being a doctor
- I had friends coming over that I hadn't seen for ages and wanted everything to be perfect
Well I guess 3 is moot! Wanting everything to be perfect is never going to happen, but wanting to be a better cook and learning from mistakes that I think is a great example of where reviewing my failures can lead to future success!
Success Update!
Incredibly on April 24 - my mum's birthday I redeemed myself with a delicious roast!
How did I flip failure to success?
- Instead of overcooking, not watching timer – I kept an eagle eye on the time
- Instead of not being clear of the time – I researched the best cooking time AND took the meat out of the fridge before hand to let it come closer to room temperature before cookin
- Instead of not resting meat successfully – I let it rest for what seemed like ages!
Thank you failure journal!
