Hello FJ,
WOW! I overspent. I work 2 jobs. I automate my mortgage payments, and this month I fell short!
Embarrassing to say the least, and I hate dipping into my (limited) savings and then I have to pay an overdraft. Well actually, I recently moved to Macquarie bank and they don't appear to charge an overdraft if you fix things up swiftly #phew.
So what went wrong...
September is my insurance month so a few extra annual bills and perhaps I bought some expensive shoes for a pre-christmas gift for my niece. But let's face it Amazon played a part here too! What is it with these online shopping gigs that make you spend big....
Well..
- The product has great reviews and has been discounted
- It is difficult to find instore, AND
- It will be delivered by 9pm tonite if you order now
Hook, line and sinker! OK that is why I bought so much. What better dopamine rush than a few packages at your door when you arrive home in the evening?
So FJ what to do?
Mark calendar months with lots of expenses as "no Amazon" months - i.e. no browsing to Amazon or other online shopping!
Maybe prepay a couple of big expenses like insurances earlier in the year.
